The period from 1385-1431 is often considered as a transitional period from the Late Middle Ages to the Renaissance in English music. A small school of English composers are known primarily from The Old Hall Manuscript (c.1418?-c.1422?). The manuscript which lists some twenty-four composers spanning the period from the Late 14th Century to the Early 15th Century. There was a new growth of nationalism and the early use of English at Court. The growth of orthodoxy in the Church especially in music. The Chapels, and the new monastic Lady Chapels are among the primary new leaders in music development.
